Not many adult women can probably say they were awarded a period party to celebrate and honor their first stage of womanhood. Nor do they know a peer or friend who was privy. The tide has turned and you can be apart of this wave. Parents are throwing parties for their precious princesses when they start their period aka menstruation.
After all, according to ACOG, menstruation usually begins on average between ages 12 and 13, and studies have found that adolescents between 12 and 18 are particularly vulnerable to developing negative body image as a result of those uncomfortable physical changes during puberty.
